New Appliance Warranty Information
Since October 5, 2026, Quebec law requires the manufacturer and the merchant to guarantee that new appliances work properly from the day they are delivered. This legal warranty of good working order is free and granted automatically by the Consumer Protection Act. You don't need to request it or pay for it.

The warranty period starts on the delivery date. It applies to new items sold or leased long-term on or after October 5, 2026.
What the Warranty Covers
- If a new appliance stops working properly during the warranty period, it must be repaired free of charge, parts and labour included.
- Repairs caused by misuse and routine maintenance, such as replacing a water filter, are not covered.
- The Consumer Protection Act also gives you other free warranties, including the right to expect an item to be usable for normal purposes for a reasonable length of time (sections 37 and 38 of the Act). These can apply during and after the legal warranty of good working order.
Products Not Covered by This Warranty
This legal warranty applies to new appliances only. It does not apply to used products or open-box products, including open-box products sold with a manufacturer's warranty (as with Whirlpool or Hisense). For those conditions, see our Open Box Warranty Information and Refurbished Warranty Information pages.
Purchases Outside Quebec
The legal warranty of good working order is a Quebec law and applies only to purchases made in Quebec. For new appliances bought from our stores in other provinces, the original manufacturer's warranty applies instead. The manufacturer's warranty for each appliance is noted on its product page.
Making a Warranty Claim
If your appliance stops working properly during the warranty period, you can contact the manufacturer, Econoplus, or both. Calling the manufacturer's customer service directly is usually the fastest way to book a repair. Keep your invoice handy, since it shows your purchase and delivery dates.

Delivery and Damages
- The day before delivery, you'll receive a message by phone or email with your delivery window.
- On delivery day, you can track the truck, and the delivery crew will call you 30 minutes before arrival.
- If you are not home at that time, delivery and administration fees apply.
- Items can be damaged in transit, so inspect your appliance when it arrives. Point out any visible transport or cosmetic damage to the delivery crew before accepting it. They will take photos and contact their supervisor immediately.
- Once a delivery is accepted, claims for visible transport or cosmetic damage cannot be made later. This does not affect your legal warranty of good working order.
